M&S and Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

Marks and Spencer have been a firm fixture on our highstreet since 1884, growing from a single market stall (who knew?!) to become an internationally recognised name in fashion, home and food. This September marks the ninth year that this quintessentially British brand will partner with Macmillan Cancer Support in bringing communities together to enjoy a cuppa and cake as part of their ‘World’s Biggest Coffee Morning’.

After raising almost £25,000 last year to help fund Macmillan support professionals in local hospitals and within the community, M&S stores and M&S Cafés are joining forces again to host coffee mornings in store across the South West on Friday 28th September. After raising an amazing £13 million nationwide for the charity since 2010, these key donations have funded 65 Macmillan professionals in the last year alone – providing medical, practical and emotional support at the most difficult times to those living with cancer and their families. Bristol’s largest stores – Broadmead, Cribbs Causeway, Eastgate, Longwell Green and Imperial Park are all hosting a World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event in-store alongside colleagues across the country and would love you to join them in support of those living with cancer.

So how can you get involved? M&S are inviting you for an extra special cup of coffee (or tea!) and a slice of cake throughout September in aid of the charity’s fundraising efforts. There’s an adorable range of limited edition cakes available to purchase for your own coffee morning (or as a little treat!) such as Colin the Caterpillar (plus oh so cute mini Colins!) complete with green and purple sprinkles to match the charity’s colours. You can also choose from much-loved classics such as Victoria Sponge, Carrot Cake, Lemon Drizzle and Triple-layer Chocolate Cake (see the full range here – although I warn that you’ll be tempted to order them all!) with 10% of each sale being donated to Macmillan.

If your sweet tooth isn’t quite as encourageable as mine there are also limited edition Macmillan mugs (for tea or coffee) available both in store and online that feature a 10% contribution to the charity.

M&S Cafés will also be supporting by donating 5p from every coffee, tea, herbal tea and cake that they sell throughout September so it’s the ideal time to catch-up with a friend for a natter whilst donating to this important cause. Macmillan have over 100 years experience of helping people through cancer, taking the time to work closely with those affected and their families – providing much needed support with healthcare, relationships and work or money worries. Around 2.7 million people are living with cancer in the UK alone today – that’s estimated to raise to 5.3 million by the end of 2040 so every donation, not matter how small, really does make a difference.
